PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
To meet the increasing population in the area, the two-story 82,000 square-foot elementary center was constructed and includes numerous classrooms, a library, offices, a gymnasium, a cafeteria and other support areas. The facility serves as a sanctuary and parish center until a new church is constructed.
The steel-framed and reinforced masonry bearing wall structure utilizes exterior exposed structural steel throughout the facility. The gymnasium and cafeteria roof structures utilizes exposed custom steel trusses with dove-tail acoustical deck. The classroom wing utilizes composite steel floor framing and deck along with steel roof framing and roof deck. A large portion of the classroom structure is expressed within the corridors and classrooms. Shallow foundations with reinforced masonry were utilized throughout the project.
